Seasons changing and the raking of leaves.

Well it is that time of the year again. The season that I remember fondly as a kid that was filled with lots of beauty, fun, and smells that still bring back memories. I remember raking leaves into huge piles and then running and jumping in them with my brothers until they were all scattered. Raking leaves on the island is much different as you don't need a rake much. I remember the chilly nights, the smell of the fireplace as it warmed up the house. I remember a big pot of chili simmering on the stove, cold Friday night football games, and mornings where a fresh cup of hot chocolate was a necessity.

My November days are not filled with these sights and sounds now, but instead Novembers are filled with fresh cut grass, the BBQ grill fired up and making some incredible burgers and dogs. Flowers and trees are blooming anew in the Spring of the Southern hemisphere. A fresh summer breeze blows through the house and reminds me of all the good things that this November brings. While I still miss the little things that remind me of November pasts -- I am enjoying these days that bring new November memories. Not to mention raking leaves is a whole lot easier and warmer.
